AmigaOS is a historic operating system that was part of one of the best computers ever made. Originally developed in the mid 80's, it raised the bar of operating systems more than the market could embrace. Against all odds this OS is actively developed and still has unique characteristics!

We Love AmigaOS

We are very pleased to announce the collaboration between mediacube and AmigaOS. As of AmigaOS update 5 (released on 16/8/2012), mediacube officially supplies AmigaOS with exclusive photographic backgrounds!

You can have a glimpse of them here:

Bubbles

Elias created the bubbles (with his hands in case you were wondering). You can “see” him in the reflections.. CSI experts could also see what he had for lunch :D

Flower

Every OS has at least one floral background... We don't thing AmigaOS has many female users but still this is a nice photo to have as a background.

Night

Right after our drinks in a summer bar we got up and start looking around for the best possible position to take this photograph. It's a background for those that prefer darker themes.

Sand

The waves had prepared a very flat and soft sand. We will use this background every time we miss summer.

Sky

This is a photographic version of the default cloud background of AmigaOS. It is well balanced with the blueish AmigaOS theme. We were lucky enough to get this photo while relaxing by a swimming pool :)

Sunset

After viewing many many sunset photos we decided to go with this one. The blueish coloring is done with camera settings. The actual colors were way more orange.

Underwater

We do not know it for sure but we do hope this is the first underwater photo of any commercial OS :) It would be nice for AmigaOS to have a “first”!

Wood

The AmigaOS “desktop” is called Workbench. Workbench-wood, you get it? Suggestion to Amigans: Use this one if you are showing off AmigaOS from a distance (exhibitions etc). We think it is very eye catching.

Which one is your favorite? Leave us a comment below if you wish.

How we got there?

As most of you know, we purchased an entry level AmigaOne computer with AmigaOS 4.1 (update 4) a few months ago and it was love at first sight. This OS is so well structured, and fast.. very fast! For those that love a bit of computing adventure and feel ok with leaving the comfort of a mainstream OS, you will be in for a surprising ride... guaranteed.

It's a work of passion and it shows!

Believe us.. soon enough you will start noticing how slow things are on Windows, Linux, MacOS. You will get used to the responsiveness very early on your new journey, and if you are the kind of user that likes to mess around with settings and stuff under the hood, you (like us) will love AmigaOS.

Last words

We are very proud to be part of AmigaOS, even with this small contribution! We do hope that Amigans around the world are happy with the backgrounds!

Special thanks to Mr Steven Solie for the excellent collaboration and everyone that make the continuum of AmigaOS possible.

Don't forget to visits the official AmigaOS website and get more information about this operating system.
